I had spent years telling myself I would sort out my pension situation properly. The Retirement Foundations program finally gave me the structure to actually do it. The Thai pension sections were particularly useful — I didn't realize how many options I'd overlooked.

The Thoughtful Investing program was exactly what I was looking for. Not tips, not predictions — just a solid grounding in how to think about money without being sold anything. The paper portfolio exercise was surprisingly eye-opening. I learned more from watching it than I expected.

As someone who lives between two countries and two sets of inheritance expectations, the Legacy program addressed things I genuinely hadn't seen covered anywhere else. The section on organising digital accounts was particularly practical. My one comment would be that a few modules could be slightly shorter.

I came in with very little financial confidence. The way the Retirement course was structured meant I never felt lost or left behind. The group discussion sessions helped a lot — hearing how others were working through the same questions made the material feel less abstract and more connected to real life.

I completed all three programs over about eighteen months. What I appreciated most was that each one treated me as someone capable of understanding complex material — just not in a rush and not through jargon. The personal legacy letter at the end of the third program was genuinely moving to write.

I was hesitant to enrol because I'd tried online courses before and found them difficult to stay with. This was different — the self-paced structure actually worked for me, and being able to come back to sections helped a lot. The support team responded quickly when I had questions, which I hadn't expected.

Participant Journeys

Three accounts of what drew participants to our programs and what they found at the other end.

participant journey · foundations of retirement planning

From vague intentions to a workable plan

The situation

A 50-year-old Bangkok-based business manager who had been contributing to Social Security for many years without fully understanding what it would provide. She wanted to make sense of her retirement picture before any decisions were made.

What helped

The structured cashflow template and the Social Security modules helped her map out what she already had, what she was missing, and what decisions were still within her control. The group discussions let her hear how others were navigating similar uncertainties.

The outcome

She completed the program over eleven weeks, made two adjustments to her voluntary savings contributions, and subsequently enrolled in the Investing program to broaden her understanding before making further allocation decisions.

Finding language for conversations that needed to happen

The situation

A 63-year-old retired professional with two adult children living in different countries. He had accumulated savings and property but had not addressed how these would be passed on — partly because he didn't know where to begin, partly because the conversations felt difficult.

What helped

The mentor conversations were described as particularly useful — a space to think out loud with someone who understood the legal context but wasn't trying to sell a product or a service. The journaling prompts helped him organise thoughts he hadn't previously put into words.

The outcome

He completed the program over five months, drafted a personal legacy letter for his family, and subsequently worked with a Thai lawyer to prepare a formal will — a step he credits the program with making possible.

Learning to evaluate rather than follow advice

The situation

A 45-year-old entrepreneur who had received various investment recommendations over the years but felt she lacked the vocabulary to evaluate them properly. She wanted to understand investing well enough to ask the right questions, not to manage her own portfolio.

What helped

The module on fee structures and the paper portfolio exercise were highlighted as particularly useful. Understanding how compounding fees affect long-term returns changed how she looked at existing financial arrangements she had in place.

The outcome

She completed the program in fourteen weeks and subsequently reviewed two existing financial arrangements with a clearer frame of reference. She described the program as having given her the confidence to have conversations she previously avoided.
